First Friday Art Show in July

Here's a sneak peek of this weekend's art show. Participants in the art show include Cavan McMahon who will be showing the first in a series of photographic images taken in and around Fredericksburg. The series entitled “Penick’s Field” gives a contemporary treatment to photographs of the bales of hay so prominent in our local landscapes. Rhoda Reynolds has a series of mixed media collages of songbirds as well as several ceramic pieces inspired by her interest in birds. Katherine Lott, owner of the Silver Spoon Trailer, will be showing contemporary paintings and collages. David and Stacy Johnson have collaborated on an abstract mixed media piece. Paige Buell, a graphic designer from Dallas, will feature her contemporary and graphic sensibilities in a new line of custom designed pillows for the modern home.

The show is open to the public and all are invited to an Open House Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The artwork will be on display all day Friday and Saturday. A special treat on Saturday will be the presence of the Silver Spoon Trailer which will be open for whimsicles, lemonade, and iced tea after the Fourth of July parade on Main Street.
